As Coopers celebrates 160 years of brewing, we thought it timely to chat with some of Australia’s oldest and most successful family businesses about their own history and outlook.

Coopers Export Manager and sixth generation family member, Andrew Cooper, recently caught up with next generation members of these leading business families to hear about their unique experiences as well as the challenges and opportunities they face into the future.

The result is the Coopers Aussie Originals with Andrew Cooper.

 

Episode 1 with Brown Brothers Wine Group

In this episode Andrew interviews Emma Brown &Katherine Brown from Brown Brothers Wine Group to hear what's it like to work in a family business that is 133 years old as they share a Coopers Sparkling Ale in the original Brown Brothers barn.

 

 

Episode 2 with Mount William Station

In this episode Andrew interviews Will Abbott from Mount William Station to hear how he is putting his stamp on the family business and Andrew and Will get to grips with the famous Coopers' role to unlock Coopers' authentic flavour.

 

Episode 3 with Hutchinson Builders

In this episode Andrew interviews Jack Hutchinson from Hutchinson Builders, otherwise know as Hutchies! Jack and Andrew talk about the pressure joining the family business involves and the responsibility to keep the legacy and company going whilst looking after a much loved work force. After leaving the building site Andrew and Jack share a schooner of Coopers Original Pale Ale to toast to Hucthinson's 110 years and Coopers' 160 years.

 

Episode 4 with Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm

In our final episode Andrew catches up with James Brown from Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. James talks to Andrew about his upbringing on the pearl farm in Broome and the history of pearl farming and pearl shell farming in Australia. To close of the episode Andrew and Jame step aboard Rosef, an old pearl lugger (boat) to raise a Coopers Regency Red Ale to two family businesses stepped in history and tradition.
