RECYCLING

At Coopers, we are committed to sustainability. As signatories to the Australian Packaging Covenant, we support national targets to improve packaging sustainability and recycling outcomes across Australia. We are dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and continually improving the sustainability of our packaging.

Coopers aims to use packaging made primarily from recycled materials and is working towards ensuring all packaging components are reusable, recyclable, or compostable wherever possible. We actively collaborate with packaging suppliers and industry partners to improve packaging design, increase recycled content, and support a circular economy.

As part of this commitment, Coopers maintains closed-loop recycling partnerships with Orora for glass and Opal for cardboard packaging. Glass bottles and cardboard cartons that are damaged during production are collected and returned to these suppliers, where they are recycled and used in the manufacture of new bottles and cartons. This approach helps minimise waste, maximise resource recovery, and keep valuable materials in circulation.

Beyond packaging, we continue to invest in broader sustainability initiatives, including our CO₂ carbon capture plant, which captures and repurposes fermentation gases for use within the brewery. Through ongoing innovation and responsible resource management, we strive to reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimise our environmental footprint.

The table below outlines how our packaging can be recycled through either kerbside recycling collections or 10¢ container refund schemes. To help Australians recycle correctly, Coopers uses the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL), which provides clear disposal instructions for each packaging component. By following these labels, consumers can help recover valuable materials, reduce landfill, and support Australia's recycling and circular economy goals.
