Got a question about Coopers Original Pale Ale? Hopefully we’ve answered it here:

What are pale ales?

“Pale ale is a style of beer that originated in
England, brewed with paler malts that give it a lighter colour compared to
darker ales,” says Nick Sterenberg, operations manager at Coopers Brewery.

“Today, pale ales are known for their balance of malt sweetness and hop
flavour. At Coopers, our ales are naturally conditioned – meaning secondary
fermentation happens in the bottle, can or keg, creating the signature cloudy
appearance and fresh flavour,” says Nick.

What are the different styles of pale ale?

There are many variations of pale ale worldwide, from the more malt-driven English pale ales to the hop-forward American pale ales, to modern Australian interpretations,” says Nick Sterenberg, operations manager at Coopers Brewery.

“Coopers Original Pale Ale – known fondly as Coopers green – has become the benchmark Aussie pale ale: balanced, approachable, with fruity esters from the yeast and a crisp, refreshing bitterness,” says Nick.

How does pale ale differ from IPA?

“When comparing pale ale and IPA, the key difference is intensity,” says Nick Sterenberg, operations manager at Coopers Brewery. “IPAs (India Pale Ales) are generally higher in alcohol and bitterness, with heavier hopping.

Pale ales, by contrast, are more balanced and sessionable, often showcasing yeast character and subtle hop notes. That’s why Coopers Pale Ale has remained Australia’s most popular pale ale – it delivers flavour without being overpowering.''

How many carbs are in a pale ale?

“The exact number varies, but a typical pale ale contains moderate carbohydrates from the malt,” says Nick Sterenberg, operations manager at Coopers Brewery. “Coopers Original Pale Ale sits in line with other popular pale ales at 2.1g of carbohydrates per 100ml – but thanks to natural conditioning, most of the sugar is fermented out, leaving a balanced and refreshing finish without excess sweetness.”
